We Offer

We have THREE large playrooms -one of them being our garage gym- and a huge fenced backyard! We spend time in all areas almost every day, with a little more time spent outside in spring and summer, and a little more time spent in the gym and play rooms in fall and winter. We love our outside time! Happy Steps provides rain suits, rain boots, sun hats, and sunscreen.
We are licensed by the state to have enough room for 12 students, though we usually don't go past 10. And when two or more teachers are on the clock, we split the group in half for free-play, and take turns between play rooms.
The children greatly enjoy this daily variety of activities!
#1 Our activity room connected to the kitchen provides tables and chairs, cubbies for the children's belongings, a library, and free-play areas. We use this room mainly for meals, circle time, educational table activities, art and projects, morning free-play before breakfast, and getting ready for outside time. Pictures of the children and their art are on display in here.
#2 Our (living room) play room offers several play centers where children pair up to play: marble run, light table with magna-tiles, big block play area, trains and cars, sand table, science center, Lego table, and Duplo blocks table. We also have a cozy corner for reading. And this is the room used for nap time. Every child has their own cot with personal sheet and blanket that get washed weekly. #3 Our gym offers an indoor area specifically designed for jumping, climbing, running, and getting to be loud! When it's 30 degrees outside, or dumping rain, the gym is warmer and dry and the children love going wild in it!
#4 Our huge backyard offers a lot of safe grassy area for running, chasing, kicking balls, playing catch, jumping, riding trikes, blowing bubbles, and throwing balls into the basketball hoop. We also have a covered patio with play cars and play gas station; play houses, play kitchens, tables and chairs for dramatic play; a small garden for teaching children how and why to grow food; lots of bird and bug visitors; fun structures like the mini trampoline (one friend at a time) and the rocking boats.

Potty-training policy: we are happy to help with your child's potty-training once they are doing well at home with it. Let us know when you believe your child is ready and we'll come up with a plan to work on it together!

*Due to the pandemic, we ask parents to drop-off and pick-up outside. Children are allowed, but not required, to wear masks. We support your family's choice to have them masked or unmasked, here. We ask families to let us know as soon as someone in your household is sick. All employees are fully vaccinated, we run HEPA filters indoors 24 hours per day, everyone washes hands frequently, and we clean thoroughly every day. We will get through this together!
